Veneers Can Give You That Celebrity-Level Smile You’ve Always Wanted
Your teeth are subject to a lot of wear-and-tear, from chips and cracks to stains and discoloration. After a while, you might notice that your smile appears less than camera-ready.
Self-consciousness about the appearance of your teeth can make you hang back in social and professional situations, to the detriment of your overall well-being.
How would you like to achieve a celebrity-grade grin this spring? Your best bet to achieve the movie star smile of your dreams might be custom veneers.
At AnnMarie Olson DDS PA in Austin, Texas, we have the cosmetic dentistry solutions you need. Our care team, led by Dr. AnnMarie Olson, offers a full range of cosmetic procedures, including full and partial dental veneers.
Here’s what you should know about how this nonsurgical option can improve your smile and your self-esteem.
The benefits of veneers
Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells that cover one or more of your existing teeth. Veneers can make your teeth perfectly even in tone and color and more uniform in size and shape.
You can use a full set of dental veneers to completely control the appearance of your teeth, or treat only some of your teeth. The porcelain material that we use for your veneers can be matched to your existing teeth, and reflect light similarly to your natural dental enamel.
Veneers, in short, look just like natural teeth, just brighter and better aligned!
You might benefit from dental veneers if you have cracked or chipped teeth, as the veneer can protect and stabilize damaged teeth. Veneers can also help with misaligned teeth, giving you a more regular bite.
And the aesthetic improvements that veneers provide for stains and discoloration are top-notch, more reliable and long-lasting than bleaching or whitening treatments.
Getting your veneers
It takes three office visits to get your dental veneers placed. Your provider at AnnMarie Olson DDS PA starts with a thorough consultation, going over your medical history and personal aesthetic goals to make sure you understand the procedure and what results you can expect.
At a second appointment, we take impressions of your teeth that we use to create your veneers. We may be able to produce your veneers in-office with our CAD/CAM and laser system, or we may need to send your dental impressions to a laboratory. In that case, it takes about 10 days for us to receive your porcelain veneers.
Also at your second appointment, your provider prepares your teeth for veneers. After administering a local anesthetic, we remove a small amount of enamel from the teeth getting veneers. We send you home with temporary veneers held on with removable bonding agents.
At your third and final appointment, it’s time to place your permanent veneers. We remove your temporary veneers and place your porcelain ones, cleaning, polishing, and ensuring fit before we apply a resin cement cured by a specialized light for long-term bonding.
After your permanent veneers are placed, you can eat soft foods right away and any food you like after a few days. Well-cared-for veneers can last as long as 15 years.
