Veneers Q & A
Dental veneers are thin shells made out of porcelain that are placed over your existing teeth. Veneers remedy the appearance of:
- Cracked and chipped teeth
- Stained teeth
- Misaligned teeth
Veneers can also fill in gaps between your teeth. Our team at Restora Dental Arts designs custom veneers to match your unique tooth shade, shape, and size, and restore your teeth to function beautifully.
Dental veneers are wafer-thin pieces of porcelain that your dentist affixes to the front of your permanent teeth. Porcelain veneers mimic the light-reflecting properties of your natural enamel.
If you’re interested in veneers, expect to visit our office three times. During your first visit, you’ll consult with the practice about your aesthetic goals and medical history. During the second visit, the practice makes impressions of your teeth and prepares you for veneer placement. Finally, during the third visit, they deliver your veneers.
To prepare you for your veneers, our Doctors administer a local anesthetic, then removes about half a millimeter to one millimeter of enamel from each tooth they plan to treat. Next, they make an impression of your teeth that they send to a laboratory.
Porcelain veneers take about 10 days to arrive back at the practice. In the meantime, your team applies temporary veneers with removable bonding agents to protect your teeth. Occasionally, we will create your veneers in our office with our CAD CAM and Laser system.
To deliver your permanent veneers, our team will remove your temporary veneers and places the permanent ones. Before adhering them securely, we place the veneers with a water-based solution and check to make sure they’re a perfect fit.
Our team cleans, polishes, and etches your teeth in preparation for bonding. Our doctors will apply a resin to the veneers, and place them over your prepared tooth. To set the resin cement, your team points a specialized light at your teeth.
Once your veneers are on, you can begin eating soft foods immediately. For the best results, refrain from eating solid or hard foods for the first few days after getting your veneers.
After just a few days, you can get back to eating whatever you want. If you treat your veneers well, they can last up to 15 years.
